The clock has struck 12 and counted down the last minutes of the twenty-teens just about everywhere in the world now, so I would like to wish you, my dear readers, a Happy New Year and a fantastic 2020! Let this year, and indeed, this decade, be another amazing one in travel, photography, and all that comes with it – creativity, new inspirations, impressions and great experiences.
Most importantly, I wish you all good health and financial stability, because let’s face it, they are prerequisites for just about everything else out there. So cheers to that!
2019 was a great year for me traveling-wise. For the first time, I visited Central Asia (and will continue writing about it), checking off Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from the country list. I have also visited the three Baltic countries, two of them for the first time – Latvia and Estonia, and spent a few days in Stockholm, the beautiful capital of Sweden. Finally, towards the end of the year, I spent 2 weeks in China and will definitely describe some of my impressions and post pictures in the near future. All in all, I have added 7 new countries to my list this year, and while I did write that the country list is not what travelling should be about, this does feel good, I’ll admit it.
Photography-wise, there have been some incredible shots I was fortunate enough to take this year. I was one of the finalists of the AFAR Travel Photography Contest of 2019 with my photograph “Thirst”, and while I did not win it, it was a great honour. And as always, I look forward to write more about my favourite pictures in “The Story of a Photo” section of this blog, so stay tuned.
I do hope to start adding videos to the blog or Youtube in 2020. I am a complete rookie to shooting and producing videos, so it will be an interesting experiment.
So with all that in mind, here’s to a great new year and a new decade! Salut!
